Saying Yes to Less

Have you ever considered saying yes to less?

I have felt distracted lately. My recent escape to the mountains reminded me that multitasking is not always my friend. In fact, it often takes me further away from myself, and those I wish to serve.

Sometimes I feel like my mind flies from one thought to another as quickly as a butterfly flaps her wings. The internal chatter in my head is quite impressive sometimes!

But the problem with a lack of focus is that it keeps me from getting my passion projects completed. The book is half written, the paint is purchased but still not on the wall… #distraction

I can give myself the therapeutic compassion that I would give my clients… I am a business owner who moved her practice home while settling in as a stay-at-home-mom who still works 50+ hours a week. I thought it was a short temporary shift, but it’s now our normal. And to be honest, I’m tired.

I am an introvert who embraces the quiet… and while the world became quiet, my house got louder with 4 humans and 3 dogs spending 24/7 moments of togetherness.

Great power comes with being an entrepreneur, especially when that business specializes in mental health. The pandemic has shifted everything in my work life. Its been amazing to watch my business evolve, but its time to re-evaluate how things are done, and where I want to be in the mix.

I’m ready to get my focus back. But I know it’s going to require a shift in a lot of ways.

Shifting focus requires change. And this is where I need to remind myself that I have the power to create positive change for myself, and others. It feels a little scary, and exciting. But in saying ‘yes to less,’ I will be able to reach and serve more. Some pretty cool things are blooming on the horizon… stay tuned!

Are you feeling a little distracted, too? This is a helpful technique I use to re-focus:

Count to 5 in.
Hold for a count of 5.
Count to 5 out.
Repeat as often as you wish.
